  • The Computer Science Internal Assessment (IA) is officially referred to as ‘The Solution‘.
  • It involves using Computing technology to solve a problem for a real-life client.
  • The IA accounts for 30% of the total Standard Level (SL) grade and 20% of the Higher Level (HL) grade.
  • The IA has 5 partsclick here to learn about the different parts (A-E)

  • Read through this page about IA, Guidance for the development, Internal assessment criteria
  • Download sample A: Sample IA, Sample IA video
  • Please download the blank grade sheet for IA marking. now you are an examiner, please mark this IA solution according to the Internal assessment criteria. In the marking table please provide a short commentary, around 60 words per question/criteria, to justify the mark allocation.
    • Guidance for writing commentaries: Moderator's comments 2016, please read this very very carefully
      • Before writing comments read the subject report and grade descriptors for this subject. Comment should not contradict either of the documents.
      • Explain why students missed/gained marks and the level of understanding that this demonstrated;useful language from the grade descriptors could be included.
      • Highlight any common problems that need to be addressed by teachers
    • IA Complexity ( good references for marking criteria C)
  • Please read through the sample solution really really carefully and study the criteria in depth! Submit your marking sheet of sample A.
  • Understand what's the solution consisted of and prepare the submission template by yourself: Please down load the forms , complete your framework of the solution by refer toGuidance for the development of the internal assessment: Framework of the solution, Using the forms, Links on the cover page sections. Please submit your modified forms (with all the links in place from cover_page) in zipped file to your project page.
    • Note: you need to change each form to .pdf format to match the links in the cover_page.htm.
    • To edit the content of htm, you can use a notepad, for example notepad++ , pay special attention that all links are the relative!!

If you want to learn more about HTML, this is a great resource which you can learn and practice at the same time:
